Common questions, answered plainly.

SMS permissions

Why FinBuddee asks to read transaction SMS, and how to change your mind.

  • Android transaction SMS is one of the supported sources FinBuddee can read to detect transaction details automatically.
  • The permission is requested from you and used for supported financial organization features.
  • You can withdraw the permission in your Android system settings at any time; detection from SMS then stops.

Email connection

Authorizing transaction emails such as receipts and bank notifications.

  • You authorize access explicitly, and FinBuddee reads supported transaction messages to extract relevant details.
  • If authorization is revoked, new emails are no longer imported.
  • Messages that are not recognized as supported transaction notifications are not turned into transactions.

Statement imports

Uploading bank and credit-card statements manually.

  • You can upload supported bank and credit-card statements from your device.
  • FinBuddee extracts transaction details from supported layouts.
  • If a statement is not parsed as expected, review the imported items before relying on totals.

Data processing and storage

How connected financial sources are handled.

  • Supported financial records are sent to FinBuddee's cloud-backed services for processing and account storage.
  • Uninstalling the app is not the same as deleting your account or service-held data.
  • The reviewed privacy policy will document retention, providers, and deletion before launch.

Managing source access

Controlling which supported sources FinBuddee can read.

  • SMS and email access require your authorization.
  • You can revoke system or provider permissions to stop future imports from that source.
  • Statement imports only occur when you choose and upload a supported file.

Duplicate transactions

When the same payment arrives from two sources.

  • An SMS alert and a statement line can describe the same transaction.
  • FinBuddee reconciles likely duplicates automatically.
  • Matching is automated and may occasionally need your review.

Transfer classification

Keeping moved money out of your spending totals.

  • Movements between your own accounts, toward family accounts, or to a credit-card bill are treated as likely transfers.
  • Transfers are designed to stay separate from everyday spending.
  • Classification is automated, so you can review and correct how a transaction was classified.

Account deletion

Removing your account, local data, and cloud data where applicable.

  • Uninstalling the app is not the same as deleting your account.
  • Deletion steps and the email request route are documented on the account deletion page.

Privacy and security

What FinBuddee services handle and what you control.

  • FinBuddee services process account, authentication, configuration, entitlement, and supported financial information needed to operate the app.
  • User-facing financial access is scoped to the authenticated account or authorized family context.
  • Permissions for supported data sources are always granted by you.
